Do I have permission to print from the CD I get?
Yes! You can print as much as you want for personal use. However, they cannot be used for commercial purposes (i.e., you cannot sell the prints to Bridal Magazines, etc).
What is the resolution of the files (i.e. how big can I print a picture from the CD)?
Resolution: 4368x2912 pixels. You can easily print a 20x24 print, and can likely print up to 20x30. (Most people don't print larger than an 11x14, so you should have no problems). For anything bigger than 8x10 we recommend printing through us.
How long before I can pick up my digital negatives?
We guarantee the negatives within a week, but typically the turnaround time is about 3 business days. The negative processing can be expedited for a $25 fee, which will get the negatives to you within 24 hours.
How much is the cost per additional CD?
$30, though you are free to copy them on your own.
Why would I choose to print through you rather than print my own?
Two reasons: (1) anything 11x14 or larger that is printed through us comes with free basic touch-up services (see our photoshop services link). (2) Every printer you could print through is "calibrated" differently, meaning that the colors, brightness, contrast, etc may vary from printer to printer. Our monitors, on the other hand, have been calibrated to the printers that we print through so you are guaranteed to get a professional looking print. (3) All prints 11x14 and larger include archival spray and mounting so that your print won't buckle or fade over time. Prints that are sprayed do not need to be framed behind glass.
For temple weddings, the time starts the moment you walk out of the temple doors. So, if you happen to take an hour and a half from the start of the sealing (rather than the typical hour), we won't pentalize you by "starting the clock." On the other hand, if you come out of them temple early (say 45 minutes from the time of the sealing rather than 1 hour), then you get an additional 15 minutes of shooting time.
For civil weddings, the time starts when you ask us to be there.
Do I get to choose the photos that go into my photoalbum?
You are free to choose photos that you want to use in your photo album. However, if pictures are not chosen a month after the wedding, we will design the album with pictures that we have chosen. After we finish designing the album, we post it online for you to see and approve. At that point, you are welcome to suggest changes. After the album is posted online, you have a month to decide which pictures you want to add, or to suggest any changes before it is sent to print.
Yes. Travel fees are as follows:
Salt Lake: $35
Manti: $50
Logan: $75
St. George: $150.
If you are travelling elsewhere, please contact us. Also, ask about how travel fees may be waived.
What do you mean by "online viewing of images" (or "online proofing")?
We will upload your pictures through our website so that anyone can view them from anywhere around the world. All they will need is an event code, which we will email you after your event. (Typically the event code will be in this format: LastnameYear. So, for us it would be Fife2007). From our online proofing page, you can select photos you want us to print, or even order yourself online. Shipping options are also available so that friends and family from across the country can order prints and have them mailed to them.
What is the benefit of two photographers?
We make a great team. When we shoot with two photographers, one of us will specialize in setting up the posed shots, while the other will specialize in candids. This will ensure that both gamuts of photos are covered. While one is setting up the group shots, the other is catching the little kids playing with Grandpa, or the groom whispering gently in the bride's ear. You won't just have the posed shots of family outside the temple. Not only are the candid moments captured better with an additional photographer, but you can also get a second perspective on a wedding. While one photographer is capturing the look of admiration in the groom's eyes from one side of the room, the other is capturing the tears in the bride's from the other.
Can I see examples of album designs and DVD slideshows?
Yes! Album designs can be seen by going to our album link on our main fifephotography page, or by clicking here. DVD slideshow examples can be seen by visiting our blog.
You can reserve your date for a week by coming in for a consultation or merely by asking us to reserve it. This will give you time to decide what you want to do. After a week, a non-refundable depost of $300 will reserve the date. The balance is due a month before the wedding day.
Can I see an example wedding contract?
Yes. Simply ask us to send an example.
Do you take pictures of the wedding party before the reception?
For two of our packages (Silver and Gold II [additional event]) you have two hours of reception coverage. You are free to start those two hours whenever you want. Additional time can be purchased. Visit our wedding packages link to find out about the cost of more time.
What is your policy on Photoshop Services?
For every photoshoot, we usually pick about 10-15 photos to touchup, then post them online. These pictures can be ordered through our client page. The touched up pictures, however, do not come with the digital negatives, they can only be ordered as prints. You can request that particular pictures be touched up and posted for online ordering.
What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept checks by mail or in person, and cash in person. Credit card, debit card, or paypal transactions will be done online and will be charged an additional 3%.
How early should I arrive for my photoshoot?
We start the clock for whenever the photoshoot is scheduled. If you arrive 30 minutes late, then 30 minutes of shooting time has been used. For this reason, we recommend that people be there at least 10 minutes early for engagements and portraits, and that brides show up for their bridals 20 minutes. (This is because bridals involve quite a bit more preparation than engagements or portraits).
Do you do both studio and outdoor shots?
Yes!
In order to keep your costs (and ours) at a minimum, we work out of our home. However, we do have access to a studio if your needs require it.
Do you offer videography services?
We personally do not do videography services. However, we have partnered with Memory Box Productions so that both services can be provided. 10% discounts are available for those clients who do both photography and videography services.
Is there a chance that anyone other than Dustin or Amber will shoot?
Not likely. We do have a number of backup photographers available only in the event of an emergency. Emergencies omitted, you will always have either Amber or Dustin shooting.
